What is a Certificate of Recognition?

A Certificate of Recognition is an official certificate provided by the Ministry of Education, UAE to confirm that a higher education degree granted by an accredited institute outside the UAE complies with the Ministry of Education, UAE guidelines and international academic standards.

Most academic and business institutions require a certificate of recognition to ensure the authenticity of degrees and certificates.

Those who have obtained the below academic documents from institutes outside of UAE, need a Certificate of Recognition: 

● High School Diploma

● Bachelor’s Degree

● Master’s Degree

● Distance/Online Learning Degree or Certificate 

● Doctorate

The following are required to apply for the Certificate:
● Students: If a student wants to pursue higher education in the UAE after completing high school or university from an institution outside of UAE, they must obtain a certificate of recognition. This also applies to students who have  completed their degree through distance/online learning. 

● Engineers: A certificate of recognition for an engineering degree is required for engineers who want to work in the UAE. Upon receiving the certificate, registration for the Society of Engineering Card (SOE) can be completed. 

● Medical Staff: Doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals must hold a certificate of recognition in order to apply for a medical license from the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DOH) or Dubai Health Authority (DHA). 

● Professors, Teachers and Academic Staff: All teachers and academic members need to have their degree recognized to teach in the UAE. 

● Government Employees in the UAE: Employees working in the government sector in the UAE, require a certificate of recognition depending on the type and nature of the job. 

● Applying for the UAE Golden Visa: A certificate of recognition may be required as part of the application process for individuals who would like to apply for a Golden Visa in the UAE. Many of the categories eligible for a golden visa in the UAE require the certificate. 



How to apply for the Certificate of Recognition?

Step 1: Verification of Academic Degree and Education Documents

● Visit www.moe.quadrabay.com and start your application. Select the verification requirements and check the package details.
● Fill in your personal details and information about the degree you would like to get recognized and your previous degree (if applicable). 
● Upload the required documents. 
● Make your payment based on the degree level and needed verification documents. 
● A specialist will check your application to make sure it is complete. During this time, you might be asked to provide additional information or documents. 
● Upon successfully completing your application, track the status of your application on www.track.quadrabay.com 
● Once all the information is confirmed and the degree is verified, you will receive your QuadraBay Verification Report.



Step 2: Applying for the Certificate of Recognition

● Navigate to the Ministry of Education, UAE Portal and click on ‘Complete Application’.
● Login to the portal with your UAE Pass.
● Enter your Reference Number that you received in Step 1 from QuadraBay and Date of Birth.
● Your personal and education details will be filled up automatically. Make sure to double-check your details. 
● Make the payment for your application.
● You will receive the Certificate with a Recognition decision (Recognized/Not Recognized) via email. You will also be able to download your result directly from your account on the Ministry of Education website.
Note:
● In exceptional cases, an application may be sent for further assessment and will therefore require additional time to process.
● If you are required to provide additional documents and fail to do so within 7 days, the application will be closed. You will receive a reminder to upload your documents before your application is closed. 
Degree Recognition is a mandatory requirement in the UAE. It is necessary to get your degree recognized if you want to work, pursue higher education or apply for a golden visa in the UAE.
